In a recent case study on Calvert Investments, Mark Leisher Productions (our sister company) went a little bit into their belief in socially responsible investing. SRI can also be called sustainable, socially conscious, green, or ethical investing, and Wikipedia explains that it applies to “any investment strategy which seeks to consider both financial return and social good.” Calvert has an especially strong focus on the environment. Their website mentions some of the major work they’ve done to support sustainability, including backing public policies like the Clean Air Act, extending tax incentives for renewable energy production, and adding regulations to Dodd-Frank to mandate transparency in supply chains.

Calvert’s latest initiative is their involvement with the 2041 Foundation, whose goal is to protect Antarctica from drilling and development and reduce the global impacts of climate change. Polar explorer Rob Swan, the man behind Mark’s recent trip to Antarctica, heads the 2041 Foundation. Calvert and Rob will be working closely together over the next several months to encourage businesses around the world to adopt sustainable practices and “invest” in the future of Antarctica.

We’re really excited to be working with Rob and Calvert in partnership with our sister company Mark Leisher Productions on this project. For the past several weeks, we’ve been collaborating on a major presentation that Rob will giving around the world. He’ll share his own story, then dive deep into climate change and the real negative impact that it will have around the world. This week, Rob is visiting DC and working with us (and Calvert of course!) to refine and finalize the presentation.

It’s been amazing working with Calvert and Rob on projects beyond the Antarctic expedition, and we can’t wait to do more!
